Having recently been very spoilt for my birthday and been given a new HD
monitor for my pc, I found I was now without desktop speakers so thought I
might take advantage of the 5.1 output on my system.
So after thorough searching I came across this speaker set, with no reviews to
help and only photos to go on I bit the bullet and ordered these.
Upon opening the packaging and taking everything out of the box I found myself
thinking "This looks pretty cheap, hmmm" The speakers are all quite light and
feel quite flimsy, the sub is the only speaker that has any kind of weight to
it and that's only because it's made of wood.
Setting everything up was fairly easy, the guide was basic but straight forward
and everything went together within about 20 minutes, what took the most time
was where I was going to position everything.
Once I switched the speakers on I was a tad disappointed with the audible pop
when I first flicked the switch and then the low hum that was quite noticeable
once they were on, however all that vanished once I played some music through
the system.
Wow, the sound quality was amazing, crystal clear, perfect bass and
unbelievably loud, the ability to adjust the bass is excellent and proved vital
when I loaded up a bit of Command & Conquer Red Alert 3 as a few of the
explosions rattled the bits on my desk and may have woke my neighbours.
The inclusion of the wired volume remote control is awesome too but as it's on
a wire it seemed hard to find someone it could be placed and not get caught on
things, why it couldn't be wireless seemed a bit odd to me.
It was a shame though when there was another loud pop when I switched the
system off despite the volume being right down.
All in all an excellent system, tremendous value for money and perfect for
someone who just wants a good sound without breaking the bank. |
