About Mr Color GX Paint Series

Mr Color paint from Mr Hobby is one of the highest quality solvent-based acrylic paint in the world, with amazing tone, balance, adhesion and colour richness. This fast-drying paint is great for both hand brushing and airbrushing.

Mr Color GX range offers a brighter finish, quicker drying, better coverage plus a stronger finish than the standard Mr Color range of paints.

Thinning Recommendations

Thinned using Mr Color Levelling Thinner, Mr Color Thinner or Mr Rapid Thinner, with a thinning ratio for airbrushing from 1:1 to 1:2 (Paint to Thinner ratio).

Mr Color Levelling Thinner has added retarder over the standard Mr Color Thinner, allowing for a smoother, enhanced finish.

Mr Color Rapid Thinner is designed to reduce drying time, particularly when airbrushing. This thinner also enhances metallic Mr Color paints by allowing them to quickly dry before the metallic pigments settle resulting in an improved metallic finish. However, it is not recommended for gloss colours as the reduced drying time may reduce the gloss effect.

Finishes and Modifications

Mr Color paints come in four types of finishes: Flat, Semi-Gloss, Gloss and Metallic.

For gloss-type paints, the gloss level can be adjusted by mixing Mr Color Flat Base additive (model number C-030, C-188 or C-189). As a general example, mix approximately 5% to 10% of Flat Base to convert to a semi-gloss finish, or 10% to 20% to achieve a matte/flat finish.
